UMOJA VILLAGE UPDATE, because YOU are UMOJA!

December 21, 2023

1. After 30 years of pastoring at Second Baptist Church of Aiken, Pastor Douglas Slaughter will retire effective December 31st.  He plans to move to Dallas, Texas, to join his wife, Mrs. Kelley Cornish, who is president of the T.D. Jake's Foundation. However, he will still be active in Aiken and travel back and forth.

2. Pre-orders for the 2nd Annual Umoja Village Celebrates Black Excellence 2024 wall calendars can now be placed.  This year's theme is "Warriors For Change."  Although Aiken and the CSRA has a plethora of warriors, Umoja Village has selected 12 individuals who have spent most of their lives as activists of change in human, civil, or voting rights. Place orders for these $15.00 fundraiser calendars on umojavillage.com or call 803-226-0150 or 803-226-0447. Calendars can also be shipped to any location or picked up from the Richard Johnson Jr. Umoja Village Resource Center starting the last week in December at 831 Hayne Avenue, SW in Aiken.

3. Many new area events have been added to the Umoja Village Community Calendar. Don't miss out by not checking it.
