Our Mission

Umoja = Unity.

Founded on June 19, 2020, Umoja Village is a South Carolina-based charitable organization, that encompasses a strategic alliance of Blacks and African Americans united with a common goal: To unify underserved populations and the entire community to bring about positive and sustainable change. To initiate this change, a progressive group of community leaders and citizens came together in Aiken, South Carolina, to develop a comprehensive action plan aimed at identifying systemic racism in several different areas of everyday life. Umoja Village ultimately seeks to establish a resource center to create employment opportunities for subject matter experts to effectively manage resources to better assist the Umoja Village family in all aspects of every day life according to our services family tree to ensure sustainable change for years to come.

Although Umoja Village currently works to affect change within Aiken County and neighboring towns, the Umoja Village model can be replicated all across the United States because it is rooted in love, unity, compassion, integrity, and accountability.

To amass its collective resources to hold itself AND local, regional, and national elected officials and leaders accountable to ensure a high quality of life for Blacks and African Americans in every aspect of everyday living.

Our Services

Each service branch is led by an adviser who may have a staff of one or more individuals to assist the entire Umoja Village family.  Our services are designed for the betterment of those typically disenfranchised, at-risk, and underserved populations subjected to inequalities as a result of racial discrimination, systemic racism, and bias.
