Our Services

Notice: Each branch of service is led by an adviser who may have a staff of one or more individuals to assist the entire Umoja Village family.

Spirituality Services:

Spirituality undergirds Umoja Village’s entire mission. The adviser is a spiritual leader who has demonstrated faithfulness in obedience to God and exhibits strong leadership skills to connect our Black and African American churches throughout the CSRA and provide referrals to the Umoja Village family. 

Education Services:

Provides referral services to the Umoja Village family when needing assistance with youth academic/education services, scholarship applications, youth services, adult education services, etc. The adviser is very knowledgeable about academia and has strong communication skills.

Healthcare Services:

Ensures the village receives relevant and up-to-date health care information and assists the family with healthcare resources, completion of health-related paperwork, etc. 

Housing Services:

Focuses on connecting families and individuals with housing options, real estate purchases, affordable housing options, completion of paperwork, homelessness resolution, etc.

Finance/Banking Services:

Provides the Umoja Village family with finance, banking, and economic services and/or connects the village with appropriate existing resources/services. The adviser is a demonstrated subject matter expert in the areas of finance, banking, budgeting, investment, and/or economics such that the village family is connected with appropriate and relevant resources, as needed. 

Legal Services:

Staffed by a certified attorney who is capable of providing general legal services or connecting the Umoja Village family with necessary legal resources.

Entrepreneurship Services:

The adviser is a recognized authority regarding business, entrepreneurship,  etc. to assist the Umoja Village family with starting and maintaining businesses and/or to make appropriate referrals based on needs. Services may also include assistance with necessary paperwork in order to progress. 

Community engagement Services:

Engages Umoja Village family in political awareness, mobilizes family for voter registration information, assists in the canvassing of candidates to run for political office, prepares candidates for campaigns, provides empowerment information to the village regarding voting, strategic planning around our collective response to issues, etc. Umoja Village cannot endorse candidates or engage in significant lobbying activities to influence legislation.

Personal Development Services:

Personal Development will consist of services for the Village as a whole or even for individuals to uplift the Black and African  American community from improving communication skills, leadership skills,  employability skills, etc. 

Communication Services:

Works with each branch within the Umoja Village family tree to determine what’s necessary to communicate to the entire village internally and externally through the utilization of our website, social media sites, texts, emails, etc.

Advocating for the public by:

  1. Promoting the interests of historically underrepresented and underserved communities through public awareness campaigns.

  2. Maintaining an online business directory that highlights and supports Black-owned businesses.

  3. Hosting community education sessions, outreach events, and partnerships that amplify equitable access to economic and social resources.

  4. Providing information that empowers residents to navigate public systems and understand their rights.

Promoting Case Management Services Including:

  1. Coordinating access to public legal services and helping individuals connect with appropriate legal-aid providers.

  2. Assisting clients with locating physical and social resources such as housing support, healthcare services, and employment opportunities.

  3. Offering personalized guidance to help historically underserved individuals overcome barriers and successfully connect to public programs.

  4. Following up with clients to ensure they receive ongoing support and continuity of care.
