Umoja Village’s 3rd Annual Black History Program was a sold out success!! It was a celebration of unity, love, and the Black experience as we honored local trailblazers with food, fun, and fellowship.

“The first Umoja Village Unity Weekend was absolutely perfect because God was glorified. I NEVER worried about the weather, because God wasn't going to rain on His own parade. In fact, when Don and I made a final sweep of the park that Friday night before Shoutfest, God sent us a sign by sending a beautiful rainbow over the park. Jesus!!

For Miller, Healthcare for the Homeless also was an uplifting experience because it showed him that “the community cares about people.”

This afternoon, we presented checks to the recipients of our first Umoja Village Funding Allocation Process. Checks were presented by Umoja Village Founders Don and Donna Wesby, Board Chair Velice Cummings, and board members Debbie Williams and Sidney Moore.

Umoja Village held its grand opening/open house for its new resource center located at: 827 Hayne Avenue, SW, Aiken, South Carolina. Speakers included Umoja Village founders Donna Moore Wesby, Donald Wesby, Aiken Mayor Rick Osbon, Aiken City Council members, Unite Us State Network Director for South Carolina Liz Walsh, and Bishop Olen I. Jessie, who performed the prayer of dedication.

On April 12, 2021, Umoja Village presentation to Aiken City Council was epic. We requested funding for the Umoja Village Rebuilding the Foundation Community Action Plan for crime prevention.
