It’s almost that time again! Umoja Village is excited to announce our upcoming Black History Month Community Celebration, a time to honor and reflect on the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black and African American individuals and communities. By coming together as a community, we can honor the legacy of those who came before us and work towards a more inclusive future.

Our Black History Month Community Celebration will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Time: 3pm

Location: USCA Convocation Center-2049 Champion Way, Graniteville, SC 29829

This phenomenal event will include a catered buffet, a special guest performance from Jamal Roberts, heartfelt tributes, and recognition of the 12 Umoja Village Unsung Heroes featured in the 2026 Umoja Village Celebrates Black Excellence calendar.

 

Jamal Roberts is the breakout soul artist of 2025, winning Season 23 of American Idol with a record-setting 26 million votes.

Jamal’s performances have garnered millions of views on YouTube, with his rendition of “Heal” during the Top 12 round of American Idol standing out as a fan favorite. With his authentic storytelling, soulful vocals, and a message of resilience, Jamal Roberts is not just an artist to watch, he’s a voice that defines a generation.

Umoja Village humbly requests your support of our 5th Annual Black History Month Community Celebration to be held Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, 3 p.m., at the spacious USCA Convocation Center, 2049 Champion Way, Graniteville, SC 29829.

With your support, we can keep the ticket prices low for the general public so they can afford to attend. This event is one way that Umoja Village gives back to the community through an educational and inspirational event.

February is Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual celebration that honors the significant contributions and achievements of Black individuals throughout history. Observed every February in the United States, it serves as a reminder of the struggles and triumphs faced by the Black community, highlighting figures such as Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, and many others who have played crucial roles in the fight for civil rights and equality.
