Umoja Village Celebrates Black History Month with Unity and Culture
GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WJBF) – As Black History Month continues, a local organization is bringing the community together to celebrate culture, faith, and unity.
Umoja Village hosted its annual Black History Month event at the USCA Convocation Center, marking five years of honoring Black leaders and uplifting the African American community through music, performances, and recognition of local influencers.
Hundreds of attendees gathered in the spirit of togetherness—a message deeply rooted in the organization’s mission. Organizers say that mission is reflected in the name itself, as “Umoja” means “unity.”
“When we embrace everyone, we embrace the true beauty of our country,” said Donna Moore Wesbey, CEO and co-founder of Umoja Village.
