Under His Wings Brunch and Resource Fair (05/03/2025)
“I haven't even gone inside my home. I'm sitting on my front porch, listening to the rain, feeling the cool breeze, and basking in God's glory as I reflect on today's Umoja Village event entitled "Under His Wings: Honoring Widows and Widowers." Today is National Widows Day. I challenge you to check on a widow or widower and let them tell you what they need. Thank you, Lord, for giving me the vision to plan this event. I'm grateful to every attendee; program participants; sponsors and vendors (see the list); my hard-working staff Ladyg Wes, Cynthia Holland, and Grace Preston; our amazing website administrator Paige Isaac; our Board Chair Velice R. Cummings and Board Member Billy Morris for physically being there and being so helpful; the supportive Umoja Village Board of Directors; Chef Dietra Bynum and team from Southern Gal Catering for a mouth-watering and satisfying brunch; and the amazing Jamie R Lewis for the incredible decorations and the banners he made me as a surprise; Byron Bush of Bright & Bold Entertainment always keeps our Boots on the Ground; funny man comedian Akintunde Akintunde; the songbird herself Dannette Kelly Rowe; the incredibly gifted and anointed praise dancing by Min.
